YBF Dragons' Den
The Creative Co Ordinator Program is a new initiative held by Young Brent Foundation. It is a social action program, which empowers young people aged 14 – 17 to be employed and work within Young Brent Foundation as Junior Project Managers to create opportunities for themselves and peers in and around the Harlesden area. They attend sessions and masterclasses where they are trained to create, plan and manage their own projects. A paid role that encourages time management, independence, teamwork, and a whole lot of creativity!
In October 2021, The Creative Coordinators had the opportunity to participate in their very own Dragon’s Den’ event where the winning project was awarded a £1000 fund towards their project.
About the day
The Creative Coordinators ‘Dragon’s Den’ event took place at Quintain Living Conference Lounge, Wembley Park where the 4 young project managers pitched their amazing and well thought out project ideas to a panel of 8 Senior Project Managers from different sectors within the youth organisation. The young people had to pitch a 10-minute creative idea with a 5-minute Q&A around their project impact, costs and outcomes.
They did extremely that the panel requested another 30 minutes of judging to select the best winner.
Who won?
The winner of the programme finale was awarded to Creative Coordinator & local young DJ Kanye whose project ‘Knives Down, Vibes Up’ aims to host a party event to celebrate and encourage positive vibes to and for young people. A space where young people can take up extra-curricular activities and networking, all while having fun! The project will be run for and by young people. Various employment opportunities will be available at the event as well as food stalls.
The following three projects did not win the funding however……they all will be going live next year 2022! The young people behind the following projects ‘Brent Let’s Grow’, ‘Let’s Cook!’ and ‘Youth Art Rotation Fair’ all did a fantastic job that numerous sponsors will supporting and working in partnership with them.
The winning project will take place August ’22 so keep a lookout!
