Brent Supplementary Education Network
What is the Supplementary Education Network?
The Supplementary Education Network is a partnership of organisations dedicated to supporting Supplementary Education Provisions (SEPs) in Brent. Young Brent Foundation's Supplementary Education Network Coordinator works closely with Brent's voluntary sector and local government to provide a range of support, including information, advice, and access to resources. In 2024, YBF managed the Supplementary Education Fund, in partnership with the John Lyons Charity. This £25,000 fund supported six supplementary education provisions, enabling them to offer additional services to their students.
What is a Supplementary Education Provision?
Supplementary Education Provisions (also known as Supplementary Schools) offer curriculum support and enrichment activities outside of regular school hours, including after school and on weekends. They cover a wide range of activities, including language, culture, and religious education. These organizations and individuals operate across the private and voluntary sectors and include:
- Supplementary schools or provisions.
- Extracurricular clubs (dance, music, drama, sports).
- Open-access youth providers (centre-based and detached youth work).
- Tuition companies and tutors (supporting mainstream or home education).
- Language schools (for children from abroad).
- Religious settings (education in faith, culture, or religious texts).
- Uniformed youth organisations (Scouts, Guides).
Next Brent SE Network Meeting
Join us to recognise and celebrate the outstanding work of Brent’s supplementary schools in supporting and enriching students’ education over the past year. To make the event even more meaningful, we invite each school to prepare a brief presentation showcasing your key achievements to highlight the vital impact you’ve made in our community. We’ll also be joined by special guests from the local council and key local services - a wonderful opportunity to share your success and build connections.
