About Organisation

Clube dos Brasileirinhos

What we do:

Our organisation's aim is to bring the Brazilian community together and to offer opportunities and networking with the wider community in the borough of Brent. Our aim is to also help children and young people to have a sense of belonging, identity and to engage with the local community.

We are a Brazilian supplementary school in Brent that provides a safe environment for young people and children to meet up every Saturday. Our main objectives and aims are:

- Teaching Portuguese as a Heritage Language (POLH) for children aged 2½ to 16 years in northwest London, in a safe environment.

- Provide contact with the Portuguese language and Brazilian culture (history, geography, arts, music, folklore, etc.) in a relaxed, joyful environment that allows the child to learn while playing and to improve their knowledge of the Portuguese language.

- Provide the opportunity to practice the Portuguese language through an extra activity in the third hour such as: Capoeira, Storytelling, Drama, Science Club, Robotics or GCSE (according to the child's age)

- Provide the opportunity to know and participate in Brazilian traditions such as Carnival, Festa Junina, musical presentations and others.

- Moderate groups of Young People to debate about current affairs such as social media, employment, relationships, family affairs, careers, and many more.
