Elevate Fund

Through our small grant programmes, we aim to equip our membership with the training, resources and financial support they need to increase overall capacity and develop a more sustainable future to benefit the young people from Brent.

Elevate Fund consists of two types of grants that aim to achieve different outcomes as detailed below. This fund specifically targets members which are not registered charities that work with Brent children and young people. The fund is accessible to these members for a maximum of £5,000 per opportunity. Please read the application guidance for eligibility.

Main grants:

Main grants are for supporting the core funding or salary costs of organisations with an operating budget under £25,000, led by or operated for African, Asian Minority Groups. The grants aim to build the capacity of organisations and allow them to grow in scale and resilience. Through the grants, organisations are expected to develop their own model to sustain their operation in the long run.

Project grants:

Project grants are for specific projects within the scope below:

  • Mental health – to tackle isolation, anxiety, depression, and fear of negative impact on educational attainment
  • SEND – to develop and scale up projects supporting children and families with SEND
  • Citizen led research – for small organisations to carry out research projects that enhance understanding of impact of inequalities on children and young people in Brent from ethnically diverse backgrounds.

Criteria for the grants:

  • Each project should demonstrate how it is responding to a local need, especially needs which have emerged or escalated as a result of the pandemic.
  • The maximum duration of the project is one year.
  • New or existing projects. We do not support activities that have already taken place.
  • Projects must adhere to NYA Covid-19 guidance and confirm in writing they will deliver to within the framework at any given time.
